Electoral campaign: National Elections Observatory visits several governorates throughout Tunisia

The members of the National Elections Observatory started on Sunday a series of visits throughout Tunisia’s governorates to observe the monitoring of the registration of electors on electoral lists, as well as the handing out of electoral cards to electors.

The program of vists ended on Wednesday. On Monday and Tuesday, the president of the Observatory Mr Abdelwaheb El Behi accompanied by some of the members of the Observatory paid a visit to the governorate of Medenine and Tataouine, southern Tunisia.

They met with officials in charge of administrative structure concerned with the presidential and legislative elections and visited town halls in several delegations.

The governorates of Beja, Jendouba, Gabes, Sidi Bouzid , Le Kef , Kasserine, Mahdia, Sousse and Monastir were also visited by the members of the Observatory.

Furthermore, the Observatory monitored the implementation of procedures relative to the provisions of the law n° 52 dated 2008 amending article 20 of the constitution relative to the lowering of the voting age to 18, so as to make sure this category of citizens is registered on electoral lists.

Members of the Observatory also monitored the implementation of the provisions of the electoral code relative to the permanent reviewing of electoral lists taking into account the right of each citizen to register his/her name on electoral lists as well as obtaining their electoral cards.
