Tunisian swimming recently came into the limelight following the Olympic Champion Oussama Mellouli’s gold medal in Rome.

Oussema Mellouli is also the first Tunisian sportsman to give Tunisia 2 gold medals in such prestigious events 40 years after Mohamed Gammoudi won gold in Mexico in the 5000 athletic race.

In confirmation of the good results recently obtained by Mellouli and other Tunisian swimmers, a Tunisian team won the Maghreb Youth Swimming Championship, which took place from November 6 to 8, 2009 on the occasion of the 22^nd anniversary of the November 7, Change.
