Head of State takes interest in investment and strategic study on e-government

President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali focused attention as he met, on Monday morning, with Prime Minister Mohamed Ghannouchi, in events planned to highlight possibilities of investment and creation of projects, in light of prospective studies conducted in the sectors of industry, services and innovating activities.

The Head of State recommended, in this regard, focusing on sectors with preferential advantages and high technological content, to meet national priorities in the area of employment of university graduates, boost exports and strengthen competitiveness so that Tunisia would become an industrial and technological destination, in line with the targets set by the Presidential platform for the next five years.

In another connection, the President of the Republic enquired about the results of the strategic study on e-government aimed to further promote e-services, update the legal framework of electronic exchanges, protect data and electronic archive and meet international standards in the creation of public websites.

The Head of State gave instructions to deepen the content of the study and identify means of its implementation in accordance with a specific timetable and fixed terms.

He laid emphasis, in this regard, on the importance of training human skills likely to ensure optimum utilisation of e-government. He also stressed the need to publicise e-government services as widely as possible among citizens and businesses.

The prime minister presented to the Head of State the agenda of the cabinet meeting due this week.
